This was going to be a post about Exfoliators but something
more exciting took place last week so I thought I’d tell you guys what
happened although you have may already guessed thanks to the title.
I said I’d have to be extremely lucky to go to another ELLE
event, it seems that the god of luck is on my side as I was invited to the ELLE Insider x Jack Wills Spirng Lates.
Obviously, I seized the opportunity and turned up in Covent Garden on Wednesday
afternoon to attend the event.
WARNING: If you
ever go to Covent Garden via the Piccadilly Line then I STRONGLY suggest you
take the lift up. There is a massive queue and an alternative option but the
option is not a good idea. As you may have guessed already, I decided to take
the alternative option – the stairs…my wishful thinking lead me to believe that
I could climb a spiral staircase consisting of 193 steps (which by the way is
equivalent to a 15 storey building)…I regretted not being patient.
It was my first time in Covent Garden- I have had many
occasions where I wanted to go but it just never happened. Once I got over the
shock of the staircase I was mesmerised. There were shops everywhere and the
streets were so beautiful, I was in awe.
After wandering round for a couple of minutes, I eventually found Jack
Wills.
Compared to the ELLEInsider x H&M Style Awards Pre-Party, there were so many people that
had asked to come to this event, so there was a queue to go in but it’s fine
because when you queue up the employees actually give you mints to munch on
before you hit the entrance. It didn’t take too long to be called in so I
didn’t freeze in the typical London weather.
As soon as you walk in you are exposed to so so so many
clothes and you know me, I had to physically restrain myself from picking
everything up. There were waiters at the front providing drinks - can we just
appreciate the existence handsome men for a minute.
Anyway, at the entrance you were handed this voucher for a
£20 discount on your shopping but in addition to that on the back there were
three boxes with the following written on it:
-
Jack Wills Brooches,
-
Monogramming,
-
Goody Bag.
All of the above is free and you can claim those, in
addition to the discount – it was already great.
The first thing I did was claiming the brooches, as they
were the closest. You were allowed to get up to three different letters. I got
my initials and also got one letter for my sister (I couldn’t get one for the
other sister as that letter ran out…) and then swiftly moved on to look at the
clothes. Now, Jack Wills is very expensive and I had already spent a lot in the
previous event – so I didn’t buy a lot but what I got as well as the freebies
will be in the in a separate post.
At 7pm there was an interview with Richard Nicoll – he is a
Fashion Designer and the new Creative Director for Jack Wills; he will be
releasing a collection for Jack Wills in the near future, so keep your eyes
peeled. He talked for a good half an hour and he seemed so down to earth and
lovely, I’ll link in an interview he
did for Jack Wills because I was not able to record his interview when I was
there as my battery pretty much died on me after a while.
After his interview was done I pretty much rushed down to
the monogramming bit but after seriously thinking it through there wasn’t
anything I wanted– maybe if I had bought a denim jacket or something I would
have definitely done the monogramming but I didn’t, also they decided to have a
half an hour break which I could sympathise with but was such a bad idea
because the queue was just getting longer (SO MANY QUEUES TODAY!).
Either way I got a free blue tote filled with LOTS of mints
as well as a Jack Wills Lookbook, which I browsed through on the train home. It
was a nice event the live DJ was partying on her own in her little world but
she looked cool.
THE FOOD! How could I almost miss out FOOD! The food was
actually similar to the one from the previous ELLE event – seafood. It was not
French cuisine though, I can’t put a finger on the type of cuisine it was but I
couldn’t eat a lot because my appetite had dramatically reduced on that
particular day.
Thank you for reading J
P.S. I’ll put up the exfoliators before the shopping as I promised
that post last week.
