ELLE sent
me a product and a letter earlier this month and I was over the moon because it
was such a cute little surprise. The product was a ‘new luxury beauty serum’
unfortunately I have no idea what brand it was from because that’ll be revealed
later what I do know is that the product is not actually on shelves yet or it
is now but wasn’t received it.
The Promise: ‘The gel-serum is supposed to
instantly firm, lift and plump the skin to make it look smoother, tighter and
more youthful.’
The Packaging: It came in a really cute bottle but
I must say it did remind me a lot of my Chemistry lessons back when I was in
school as some of them chemicals did come in a similar form. Back to the
product, the bottle itself was quite simple. I assume that the actual serum
will have a label on it but as it’s a ‘secret’, I’m not too sure what the labelling will look like.
The Applicator: Most serums come with either a pump
or a pipette- both would dispense the product pretty well but I think using a
pipette is much more entertaining and ‘cooler’. The pipette for this particular
serum is at a slight angle at the tip of the pipette – this is quite similar to
the Bobbi Brown Serum applicator (which I have not used before I just came
across it), I'm not too sure why that is but one day I'll find out.
The Product: I thought this serum would be too
thick on the skin because it was a ‘gel’ but I was so completely wrong. I put 2
– 3 drops on my hand and then used my finger to massage it onto my forehead, cheeks,
nose and chin HOWEVER this absorbs into the skin so
incredibly fast that I was genuinely thrown back with surprise. It absorbs into
your skin before you can blink. So I actually changed the way of how I applied
it – I find that you’d get better application patting the product into your
face rather that massaging.
The Scent: The smell of a product is so
important and I had no reason to complain when using this. At first I
couldn’t quite pinpoint what this sweet smell was…it was so beautiful. I worked
it out though (with help) – Rose water, I don’t know if this product has rose water components within it but if
it does that's awesome because rose water does weird and wonderful things to the
skin. I strongly recommend Rose water
products to everyone because of the advantages it has (I would have to make
a completely new post on that if I were to say more).
The Result: I’ve already said that it absorbs
into the skin at lightening speed so after 30 minutes I literally just when
ahead and touched my face and it was so smooth, the product makes your skin
visibly clearer and gives it a much more healthy glow, which I’ve been needing
recently due to my long work hours. After the (somewhat) 6-hour mark my skin was still super smooth so I already loved the product.
As my skin
is ‘quite young’ I can’t really comment on the firming and lifting aspect as
there isn’t a lot to be made firmer or lifted but I did like how my skin felt
after I used the serum. The statistics do however state that '83% of woman said their skin felt firmer 30 minutes after application and 90% said their skin felt firmer after 6 hours' in addition to this '87% of woman said their skin felt more lifted 30 minutes after application and this remained at 87% after 6 hours'.
I haven’t
always been a serum girl because I’ve always believed that serums would make my
face oilier - which probably isn’t true. I know for a fact that I have an oily
T-Zone – I hate it; so I actually avoid putting too many layers of products on my face. However,
this product cancels out all my fear because I can use both serum and moisturiser and walla, I don’t have that oily face I feared off.
I don’t
have any complaints about the product as of yet but I’m definitely going to
finish using the product up, until the last droplet and if by the end of the
bottle it’s become a crucial part of my routine then I will most definitely invest
in some…(unless Christmas leaves me broke).
Thank you
for reading & Merry Christmas.
P.S. 5 sleeps till Christmas
The Luxury Beauty Serum is from REN, and it is their new Keep Young and Beautiful™ Firming and Smoothing Serum, I was right. It does have extracts of Rose water in it and also it costs £46 but I think it's probably worth its price because other ELLE insiders have said that it tightens their skin and lifts it - as I said before my skin is actually quite young so I wouldn't be able to comment on this aspect.
