If the BodyShop Haul wasn’t enough to reassure you guys that I waste money then this post should make it more obvious.
Boots and
Superdrug are two shops I spend most my time at, out the two, Superdrug is my
favourite because I have a massive nail polish collection and the majority was
from there, so I did spend a lot of my time in Superdrug. I also believe that
Superdrug is slightly cheaper in comparison to Boots and you can use your
student discount (NUS) card in Superdrug.
1. Max Factor Kohl Pencil - Black (£4.99)
Never in a
million years did I think I would buy one of these, it was one of the make-up
products I found in my mum’s cupboard when I was younger and didn’t understand
the purpose of. Also, when I was a dancer I absolutely hated it because I would
involuntarily cry when my make up was done. However, I found ways around using
this product without crying. I bought this for my upper waterline to give off a
fuller eyelash image. I find this to be way to solidified to apply straight on
to my eye so instead I use a lighter and rapidly put it in and out of the fire,
which, makes it softer and so my eyes aren’t irritated.
2. Sleek Contouring and Blush Palette (£9.99)
I
absolutely love the product and bought it in the shade medium. It’s super
pigmented and the reason why I actually love it, is because when applied it
gives of this golden-goddess look or at least that’s how I describe it. I felt
really reluctant to throw away the packaging because I liked how it looked like
chocolate. Anyway, when you open it you have a contour, highlight and blush. The
contour doesn’t have the ‘gold’ within it, so can be used on an ordinary day,
however the highlight and blush have the gold pigment so everyone may not like
that aspect. I’ve not used a brown blush before so I was really excited when I
used it.
3. Sleek Blush (£4.49)
I bought
this in Rose Gold because the previous blush I had was much brighter and
unfortunately made me look extremely pink so ontop of my pink undertone I
looked a bit like a peach (which shouldn’t be possible). Maybe it’s a
‘Sleek-thing’ but this blush had the gold pigment within it too, I wasn’t
against it but I wouldn’t use it with the brown blush as it may be way to
overwhelming for my face – I still liked the colour though. It was a much more
natural pink and I didn’t need too much product on the brush.
4. realTecnniquesSetting Brush (£5.59)
I find that
some brushes are way too big for my face not that my face is extremely small
but they’re not the right size. So I got this brush for highlighting purposes,
I didn’t have a specific brush for highlighting before I just used my fingers
and then blended it out with a bigger brush which wasn’t a bad idea but I found
the brushes for cheaper online so why not? I like how it’s the perfect size and
the bristles are super soft, but don’t buy this from Boots because they charge
you £8.99.
5. realTecnniquesShading Brush (£5.36)
I don’t
normally put on eyeshadow, so again I didn’t have an eyeshadow brush, well I
had one but I used it as a concealer brush because that was more important.
It’s a really dense and soft brush, which I got for free (3 for 2, Boots). As
you can probably tell the top is supposed to be white but I used it before
taking a picture and now it’s brown. Personal opinion but I would encourage
others to buy this brush (or any super soft brush) because other brushes I’ve
used are too stiff and are harsh for the skin around your eyes.
6. Soap &Glory One Heck of a Blot (£12.00)
I’m
supposed to have dry skin but for some reason my face has an oiler complexion
so when I occasionally wear make up my face look shiny after a couple of hours.
I cannot keep applying my powder because then the other colours would become
diluted and that’s when I came across this. It’s a translucent setting powder –
it’s also has a matte finish, so now I won’t have a shiny face in pictures.
7. ecoToolsTapered Blush Brush (£7.99)
I don’t use
this as a blush brush - this is my contour brush. It is relatively soft, it is
slightly big but it works fine. I liked how the handle was made from bamboo;
maybe I’m obsessed with nature (flowers are the best). It’s a lightweight brush
that’s quite easy to control. I don’t really have much to say about it but I
genuinely like it.
8. BourjoisHealthy Mix Serum Gel foundation (£10.99)
I thought I
wouldn’t be able to find the right colour for me because they had six options
and the majority of them are more suited for lighter complexions but I actually
found one that worked! The shade I have is 55 – beige fonce/dark beige (I think
there is one darker shade)- it’s a lightweight foundation and a cheaper
alternative. I normally use Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation; it’s a cream based
foundation I got it on holiday but I didn’t want to always use that and I wanted
to try something new.
9. realTecnniquesRetractable Lip Brush (£7.51)
I have this
palette of various lip shades; I have no idea what brand it is because it’s
just gold with no name. I really like some of the shades within it but lost the
brush that came with it so I needed a new brush. I liked how you this was a retractable brush because I can just
carry this around without any of the excess product going anywhere – so, even
if I lost the lid (which I probably will do) I have a clever alternative mechanism
to save me. Something I haven't mentioned earlier is that I love how the realTecnniques brushes aren't just black, each brush is either orange, purple, pink or white- which is cool.
I hope I won't be having another haul anytime soon because that would genuinely not be healthy at all.
Thank you for reading.
