At the start of the year, I set myself 8 goals which were all achievable if I put my mind to it. To be honest with you, I subconsciously fulfilled most of these and had forgotten that I wrote these goals but without further ado lets have a little flashback and reflecting.
Finish
my essays/work at least a week before the deadline.
This actually succeeded, right at the end of 2016, I managed
to finish my work waaaaay before the deadlines which had me surprised at myself
but I also came to realise that the saying, ‘Proper preparation prevents poor
practice’, is definitely a valid statement. Starting my work early prevented
all the mind blocks I normally have when I write essays the night before they’re
actually due. However, in all honesty there is absolutely no point in me
telling anyone that because regardless of the amount of people who tried to
drum this in my head I still went on doing things my way till I actually realized
it for myself.
Learn
one dance routine.
This failed, I didn’t even try this *looks down in
shame*
To
experiment with fashion and not be afraid of what others think aka wear what I
want.
THIS WORKED. Yes, I ended up buying sooooo many
clothes over 2016 but I tried out different trends that I’d have never done
before. I would show you photographic evidence but if any of you have seen my Instagram,
I’ve only just started ‘#ootd’ posts so hopefully in the year to come you’ll
see many more of those
Challenge
myself to wear everything in my cupboard instead of buying new outfits.
*cough*….failed, kind of. I did end up buying new
outfits as I gave away above but I did wear most the clothes in my cupboard and
at some point in the year, I had a closet clear out where I donated any clothes
that were in my cupboard because of my clothing hoarding issues.
Take
up yoga to help my posture.
Another fail…but I did pick up Kickboxing over summer
SOO I did pick up a sport, I’m going to work on my kickboxing for now.
Become
more independent.
A PASS, finally, I don’t know how to explain this one
but I’m definitely breaking free from anything I was tied down too and am at
war with the problems this world brings to young adults. Defeating things one
at a time. (I had to make myself sound a little cool, just a tad).
Write
one blog post a month.
…we all know how this went.
And
finally, if something needs to be done, do it now.
I liked this saying from the first time I saw it and I
think I can say that this is probably become a life motto. In terms of my
career if I didn’t follow this, I’d be putting someone else’s life at risk and I
can’t bring myself to do that so guys, if you have something to do, do it now
and stop pushing it away.
And I guess that’s a wrap for 2016. Regardless of how terrible social media
portrayed 2016, it was a good year for me.
